A page to share my hobbies and passions

About me

Hello,

My name is Paul Edhlund.

This is a page to share my hobbies and passions. Chief among those are flying, maintaining, and building light aircraft.

I have been attending the EAA Oshkosh airshow and convention, now called Airventure, since 1975 and have been an Experimental Aircraft Association member since my early teens. The sport aviation community that the EAA represents is my extended family. For anyone interested in any facet of aviation I highly recommend an EAA membership and attending Airventure.

I have been an avionics technician since the mid-1980s. Though my professional career has taken me to more lucrative areas of the technology trades, I have always continued with Avionics maintenance and installation as a sideline and hobby to stay close to aviation and to help out my friends in my EAA Chapter.

As a result of this, I became involved in 1999 with the Hands-On Workshops at the Sun & Fun Fly-In. My EAA Chapter, 133 in Fort Lauderdale, has had a deep involvement in these workshops since their inception decades ago. Check out the Sun & Fun Hands-on Workshops on their website at this link

As part of a team of amazing dedicated and talented volunteers, I have been given the privilege of being one of the teachers in the Avionics and Electrical Hands-on Workshop. This was originally to just be as a substitute for the primary instructor who could not attend one year but I had so much fun teaching it I have now been doing it for nearly two decades.

This workshop is put on three times a day during the Sun & Fun event consisting of a roughly 45-minute screen presentation and lecture followed by a hands-on segment where you can handle the tools and try the techniques we present.

This workshop has something to offer for anyone who wants to learn the "ins and outs" of wiring and working on electrical systems in airplanes from a total neophyte to someone who has been working around airplanes their whole life but never specialized in wiring and electrical.

As we have evolved this workshop and added detail over the years the paper handouts we provided as part of the lecture portion of the workshop became too large and expensive and we moved to a slide show and very limited handouts.

I do however make the handouts and other materials available to anyone who wants them, free, via this website. Please follow the links at the upper left to the documents for download.
